Rob obtained a BSc and PhD in Chemistry from Cardiff University, following this he moved to the University of Cambridge as a PDRA. After coming to the realisation that a Nobel Prize wasn’t a likely outcome he made the switch from bench to office and moved to University College London.

After spending 9 years as a Assistant Safety Officer at the Wolfson Institute of Biomedical Research and UCL Cancer Institute he moved on to take up the position of Health and Safety Manager at the University of Reading, School of Chemistry, Food and Pharmacy.

In 2019, Rob transferred to the Health and Safety Directorate of Queen Mary University of London, where he is the Health and Manager (Science and Engineering) and University Chemical Safety Adviser.
